Search Tucker County Inmate Records

Tucker County inmate records are searched through the regional jail system that serves local adult arrests in West Virginia. A Tucker County jail roster search can show current custody leads, but it is only one part of the lookup chain. People may move from booking to court, bond release, state custody, victim-notification records, or federal and immigration systems. To look up Tucker County inmates online, start with the official regional roster and use court or agency contacts when a name, charge, or release status needs confirmation.

Tucker County Jail Roster Overview

The adult jail lookup for Tucker County is not a stand-alone sheriff roster. The official custody search begins with the West Virginia Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation offender-search landing page, which links to Daily Incarcerations, Offender Search for Jails, Offender Search for Prisons, and Escapees and Absconders. For a recent arrest from Tucker County, the most direct jail route is the WV Regional Jails Offender Search. The companion Daily Incarcerations page can be used when the county filter is the better starting point.

The regional jail record answers custody questions. It does not replace a court file. DCR warns that information is public and updated regularly, but location, release date, status, and other details can change fast. DCR also says sentencing information on the jail search is not meant to reflect the events of the underlying criminal action, so formal charges, hearings, bond terms, and final dispositions must be checked through court records. No official Tucker County Sheriff app-only roster was located, and no separate sheriff booking-report PDF was found in the research.

The search pages are free and do not require an account, but they use CAPTCHA. That makes them better for a person checking one name than for automated collection. On a phone, the forms may load, but desktop use is often easier because the state pages combine form fields, CAPTCHA, and long disclaimer text.

Use Tucker County Inmate Records

Use the name search when a last name is known. Use Daily Incarcerations when the goal is to see a county-filtered view of current regional jail custody. If a person is not listed, do not assume the arrest did not happen. Transport, intake, name spelling, bond release, and transfer can all affect what appears online.

  1. Open the WV Regional Jails Offender Search and enter at least the first three letters of the last name. Add the first name when the last name is common.
  2. Complete the CAPTCHA and submit the search. Review any matching names with care because location and status can change quickly.
  3. Open Daily Incarcerations if the name search is inconclusive. Select Tucker County from the county drop-down and submit the form.
  4. Call Tygart Valley Regional Jail and Correctional Facility at (304) 637-0382 if the person does not appear or if release, transfer, or bond needs confirmation.
  5. Move to the WVDCR prison/supervision search if the person was sentenced, transferred to prison, placed on parole, or otherwise moved out of regional jail custody.
  6. Use the BOP or ICE locator only for federal or immigration custody. Those systems are separate from the Tucker County jail roster.

The access chain is important in Tucker County because the local sheriff is an arresting and records agency, while the adult jail is a state regional facility. Tucker County Sheriff Jacob "Jake" Kopec's office at 215 First Street in Parsons can help route local arrest or incident-record questions during weekday business hours, but the current adult custody record is generally checked through WVDCR and Tygart Valley.

Access-channel chain: Start with the regional jail roster, then use Tygart Valley's phone line, in-person sheriff or facility contact after calling ahead, a FOIA request, the WVDCR prison locator, BOP or ICE locators, and West Virginia VINE as the facts require. No official Tucker County Sheriff app-only inmate roster was located.

Tucker County Roster Search Fields

The regional jail name search has a short field set. The last-name field is the key requirement. First name narrows the result list, and CAPTCHA is required before the state form will return records.

Field LabelTypeRequiredNotes
Last Name (Partial or Full)TextYesEnter at least the first three letters. The field allows longer full-name entries.
First Name (Optional)TextNoUse this to narrow common last names or possible duplicate records.
CAPTCHACAPTCHA widgetYes to submitThe page uses a visible Google reCAPTCHA gate.
SearchButtonNot applicableSubmits the jail search after the name and CAPTCHA are complete.

The Daily Incarcerations page uses a county drop-down rather than a name field. Its county list includes Tucker County and the other West Virginia counties served by the statewide regional jail system. It also uses CAPTCHA, so a failed or incomplete search may be a form issue rather than proof that no custody record exists.

The WV Regional Jails Offender Search screenshot in the image below shows the name-based jail form used for Tucker County adult custody lookups.

Because the form requires last-name input and CAPTCHA, it is best used for a focused Tucker County inmate record check, not broad browsing.

Tucker County Inmate Profile Fields

Public interfaces and DCR disclaimers support a cautious inventory of what a regional jail record may show. CAPTCHA prevented unrestricted live-profile inspection during the research pass, so fields tied to individual profiles should be read as "may show" unless confirmed on the live record or by the jail.

FieldWhat It Shows
NameIdentifies the person returned by the last-name and optional first-name search.
Current location or statusMay show a jail or custody status, but DCR warns that status can change quickly.
Booking or custody relationshipConnects the person to the regional jail public-information system or county-filtered daily incarceration view.
Release dateMay appear, but DCR specifically warns that release-date information may not reflect true current status.
Sentencing informationNot a substitute for the criminal case record. Court records control the underlying case history.
Mugshot or photoCould not be confirmed on a live jail profile due CAPTCHA. DCR escapee and absconder pages show photos for some public categories.
ChargesJail booking charges may appear, but formal charges should be validated through magistrate or circuit court.
BondMay be listed if available, but court and jail confirmation is recommended before relying on it.
Court date or caseCourt details belong in Magistrate Case Record Search, WVPASS, or clerk records.
RedactionsPrivacy, law-enforcement, and statutory limits may restrict some record details.

For booking photos tied to the roster, see the Tucker County jail roster mugshots page, which separates DCR records, sheriff or police social-media posts, and West Virginia booking-photo law.

Tucker County Custody Systems

Tucker County adult arrests usually route through a regional jail system, while prison, federal custody, immigration detention, and juvenile placement use different tools. Kenneth Honey Rubenstein Juvenile Center is physically in Davis, but it is a juvenile state facility and not the adult public jail roster for Tucker County arrests.

County, state, and federal distinction: Recent adult arrests and short jail custody belong in the WV Regional Jails tools. Sentenced prison, parole, or active supervision belongs in the WVDCR prison/supervision search. Victim alerts use West Virginia VINE. Sentenced federal custody uses the BOP Inmate Locator, and immigration detention uses the ICE Online Detainee Locator.

When a Tucker County defendant is convicted and moved into state custody, the regional jail search may stop being the best source. DCR's prison search accepts either an OID number or a first and last name, and DCR says discharged people or people no longer in active custody or supervision will not appear.

Note: A "No results found" message can mean release, transfer, name mismatch, or a system scope issue, not just no record.

Tucker County Booking Process

Booking is a two-agency path in practical terms. A Tucker County deputy, municipal officer, State Police trooper, or other officer makes the arrest or serves the warrant. The person is then transported to the regional jail system for adult detention. Tygart Valley PREA material describes a booking area where offenders are first brought after arrest or sentencing before they enter the main facility.

At intake, the jail confirms identity, receives the arrest or commitment paperwork, checks for warrants and holds, and creates or updates the custody record. Search and property controls follow facility rules. Medical and mental-health screening, classification, and housing placement are part of the custody process. A booking photo and fingerprints may be taken, but public display of a photo depends on DCR practice, West Virginia law, and any applicable records exemptions.

Initial appearance and bond happen through court channels, not through the roster itself. If the roster lists a charge or possible bond, confirm it with the magistrate court, circuit clerk, or facility before taking action. For the charge path after booking, the Tucker County court records after jail arrest page explains how the court case begins.

Tucker County Jail Visitation

Tygart Valley's official visitation rules require advance scheduling by the inmate. The inmate submits the visit request to facility staff between the Monday morning opening window and the Thursday noon deadline for a later visit. Requests must list the visitors who plan to arrive, and unlisted visitors are not eligible for that visit.

DayHoursNotes
MondayNo visitationInmate request period opens for future visits.
Tuesday3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.No appointments after 7:30 p.m.
WednesdayNo visitationNo public visitation listed.
ThursdayNo visitationRequest deadline is noon Thursday the week before the requested visit.
FridayNo visitationNo public visitation listed.
Saturday8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.No appointments after 12:30 p.m.
Sunday1:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.No appointments after 5:30 p.m.

Visits are scheduled in 30-minute intervals, with limited slots per interval. A standard visit allows one adult and two minor children or two adults. The rules also call for government photo ID, visitor search procedures, strict dress limits, and controls on phones, bags, watches, and other items. Attorney and approved religious visits are handled differently and must be coordinated with the Chief of Security or designee.

Call Tygart Valley before travel because the research found no local bus service to the facility and no official refresh interval for roster or visit status.

Tucker County Records Requests

If the online roster is missing, incomplete, or blocked by CAPTCHA, use the records path. West Virginia FOIA gives a right to request public records from the custodian unless an exemption applies. A request should name the person, date of arrest, arresting agency, report number if known, facility, and the exact record sought, such as a booking record, arrest report, transport record, or jail record not visible online.

Under W. Va. Code §29B-1-3, the custodian must provide copies, set an inspection time and place, or deny the request in writing as soon as practicable and within five business days excluding weekends and legal holidays. W. Va. Code §29B-1-4 preserves exemptions for privacy, law-enforcement investigative material, and records made confidential by other law.

For a local arrest or incident report, start with the Tucker County Sheriff's Department. For a regional jail record not shown online, contact Tygart Valley or WVDCR. For court-file copies, use the court clerk rather than FOIA because the judiciary follows its own access and copy procedures.

Mail, Money, and Notifications

The official Tygart Valley materials reviewed did not publish a complete mail-format rule, package policy, commissary limit, or deposit fee table. That absence matters. Before mailing money, sending a package, or setting up a paid service, call the facility and use only current DCR-approved instructions. Do not send cash or property based on a third-party page that is not confirmed by WVDCR.

West Virginia VINE is the better channel for custody notifications. It does not replace the jail roster, court record, or facility call, but it helps victims and registered users receive status updates when the custody record changes. The West Virginia VINE landing page is a statewide notification tool, not a Tucker County sheriff roster.

That county drop-down is useful when a name search is uncertain, but a facility call is still the best way to confirm a recent booking or fast release.
